1. Initial Enquiry & Design Discussion
Once you contact us, we’ll chat through what style of door you’re looking for, Victorian, Edwardian, 1930s, or a more bespoke traditional design. At this stage we’ll discuss:
- Your preferred period door style
- Any stained or leaded glass ideas
- Whether you need a frame as well
- Whether you require any glazing around your door (sidelights or fanlights)
This helps us understand the scope and give you an early idea of pricing.
2. Personalised Quote
We’ll put together a clear, detailed quote based on your chosen design, glass type, and frame if this is something you're opting for.
There are no hidden costs, and you’ll know exactly what’s included before moving forward.
3. Scheduling Your Door Into Production
If you’re happy with the quote and would like to proceed, we require a 50% deposit.Once paid, your door will be scheduled into production.
4. Design Stage
Once your deposit is received, we’ll send you a design kick-off email packed with details to help shape the finer points of your door. This includes questions about your glazing preferences, how you’d like the base of the door structured, and any stylistic elements that matter to you. All of this helps us build an accurate picture of your ideal door.
You’ll then receive:
- A structural diagram of your door and frame
- If you're opting for stained glass, a set of scaled illustrations of your panel
- A curated selection of glass options chosen by our designer
At this stage, many customers explore patterns, colours and inspirations for their glazing. If you'd like to understand more about how our stained glass is created, you can read our guide on How We Design and Make Traditional Stained Glass for Front Doors.
You’re welcome to request unlimited revisions — we’ll refine the drawings, adjust the glass choices, and tweak the details until everything is exactly right. Production will only begin once you’ve fully approved and signed off the final designs.
5. Production & Craftsmanship
Your door is handcrafted in our workshop using solid timber and traditional joinery techniques. If your order includes stained glass, our designer will create the panels to your approved design.
During this phase, we’ll share progress photos with you so you can see your door coming to life.
6. Delivery
As your new front door nears completion, we’ll liaise with you to arrange a suitable delivery date.Once your door has been collected by our couriers, we’ll provide an estimated time of arrival.
7. Finishing & Aftercare
Your door arrives primed, so it’s essential to apply a top coat either before installation or within 24 hours after fitting. This protects the timber from moisture and ensures your guarantee remains valid.
We send every customer a link to our How to Care for Your Door guide, which covers:
- Instalation
- Painting and finishing
- Ongoing maintenance
If you ever have questions, we’re always here to help.
